Marina Solarek

Violin/Viola teacher and Artisitc director

Marina studied Violin, Piano and Conducting in Mannheim and Hamburg in Germany before moving to London and studying with the distinguished Professor Yfrah Neaman. She gained her Performance and teaching Diplomas at the Guildhall school of Music and Drama.

lastly, Marina's very first employment was a a ballet dancer in the Bremerhaven opera house. She kept her passion for this art form and attended ballet classes with Romayne Grigorova at Covent Garden Opera House for thirty years and now takes classes with ballet dancers of the Tully Collective.

Marina has had a long and successful career as a violinist. Her first job was with the BBC Radio Orchestra since leaving she freelanced for many years in London with orchestras like the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. She has been leading orchestras for London's End Musicals and has been spotted in the past on top of the pops with the Stereophonics and  in Wembley Stadium with Rod Steward.

She has given concerts at the South Bank and has made several broadcasts for Classic FM and BBC Radio 3.

Marina enjoys an active chamber music career performing with her piano trio in London concert halls and touring widely in Europe and Britain. They have recorded the early chamber music of Henriette Bosmans (released on Toccata classics).  Marina champions the performance of neglected female composers and has  recently given the first performance of Henriette Bosmans' Violin Concerto with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and will play the Concerto for Violin and Horn by Ethel Smyth in March 2026.

Marina is the co-founder of the successful Arpeggione residential viola course and she has coached chamber music groups there and elsewhere. She has taught at the Junior Royal college of music and has given masterclasses at the University of Belfast.

In 2021 she was appointed Artisitc Director or the Youth Music Centre in north west London. There she conducts three childrens orchestra.
